ERIN MCGOWAN

Meet Erin

WORLD CHAMPION BOXER

HEY GUYS,

I am Erin, World Champion Boxer, based in Perth, WA. I specialise in Boxing, Strength and Conditioning, as well as health & lifestyle coaching.

I have over 17 years of international boxing experience as a professional boxer, travelling the world and developing the "EMB" program. I have created this program to enable all of my clients to work at their individual capabilities and fitness levels.

I teach and preach a happy, healthy and balanced way of life, the good & the bad. The 80/20 approach is based on your 'good' being the majority of your week and the 'bad' as a few days of the week. Whether that is indulging, not exercising or relaxing. I have indulged and experienced a lot in this life. I have been a single mom from the age of 17, conquered an incurable kidney disease and fought my way back to world champion after battling serious physical injuries and adrenal burnout.

Through these experiences, I understand the importance of balance and apply the 80/20 rule to my own life.

You are not depriving yourself of everything and you can really focus your energy on the 80% good, whilst allowing yourself to have the 20% in a way that helps you feel balanced.

I can't wait to start training together and share this journey with you!

2011

Erin was offered to fight for the WBC world Title in South America. Well aware that South America is a very corrupt country to fight in, it was a challenge Erin was ready to accept.

After doing research on her opponent Monica Acosta, Erin knew she had what it took to beat her convincingly. This fight was to be Erin’s first international televised fight as Monica Acosta’s Promoter (Arano Box) owned 2 television stations and 3 radio stations, so the fight was promoted massively all over South and North America.

Erin went into the fight dominating the first 9 Rounds with Monica Acosta being forced off her stool and made to continue the fight from round 5 on, when she wanted to quit. The end of the fight approach, and Erin walked to the centre of the ring expecting to be crowned THE NEW WBC CHAMPION OF THE WORLD as the crowd has turned their cheering for Monica to Erin.

The decision was being read out in Spanish and televised world wide, when unexpectedly they held up Monica Acosta's hand as champion to everyones surprise - even her home town crowd were in shock.

The WBC officials immediately put in a protest to head office, and for the first time in history of female boxing a rematch was ordered on neutral ground.

A rematch in South America never happened. With all of the Legal dramas involved, Erin refused to fight for 12 months under the same contract.

In this time Erin felt extremely  mentally and physically broken as she  had given her heart and soul to this fight. Erin returned to her home town of Perth Western Australia and waited out her 12 month contract until she could fight again.

2012

Erin was released from her contract and was instantly approached to compete for the IBF World Title in Belgium in a short 6 weeks time.  Erin took the fight, although under prepared, and ended up getting stopped in the 7th round.

2014

Erin made her final decision to give it her all and fight to get her world title back and retire on top. Erin won the WIBA World Title in December 2014.

Erin finished her professional boxing career with 38 amateur fights (majority International) with 34 wins, 4 loses and a professional record of 14 fights with 12 wins (7 by way of knock-out) and 2 loses.
